Project Process Model
1. Project Sourcing
Carbon Life is associated and partnered with organisations around the world to develop a range of project types in suitable geographical locations. These may be businesses, NGOs (Non Government Organisations) or community groups and on many occasions direct contact with the Project Developers, ensuring that Carbon Life can provide its client’s with true Carbon Price at source.
2. Additionality Confirmation
We will only source or fund a Carbon Project once we have verified that the project would not have gone ahead without carbon finance (i.e. income from selling the emission reductions).
Many projects available on the market utilise various interpretations of the additionality rule. Carbon Life has specific expertise in Carbon Project Development allowing us to ascertain the genuine nature of a project from its documentation (Project Design Document (PDD)), providing a unique understanding for our clients when sourcing such robust, verifiable offsets. This provides our clients with the expertise that is rarely available in the Climate Change market as very few organisations have Project Developers internal to their company.
3. The Design and Verification Project Cycle
Our projects follow a process of design which incorporates a 'Cradle to Grave' approach. From pre-feasibility analysis through to monitoring, verification and validation, this provides an independent, unbiased assessment and audit of the emission reductions being delivered. Each PDD must clearly show the following:
- Description of the project.
- Projected emissions occurring in absence of project (baseline methodology)
- Demonstration of how GHG emissions are reduced by the project below what would otherwise occur (additionality)
- Calculation of projected reductions in GHG emissions (methodology)
- Method of monitoring actual GHG emissions reductions (monitoring methodology)
- Projected impact on sustainable development.
4. Accreditation in the Voluntary Market
All projects are accredited to an internationally recognised and rigorous emission reduction standard. No projects are accepted by Carbon Life without Verification and validation certificates.
Carbon Life has access to a wide range of projects accredited to varying standards within the Voluntary Market, coupled with our unique understanding of the fundamental principles of each Carbon Standard (including CDM, GS VER, VER+ and the VC2 2007) we are able to assess and recommend the appropriate Carbon Standard / Carbon Offset to use for your specific business needs, along with precise technology, geographical location and secondary benefits that will help enhance your company’s reputation during our fight against Global Warming.
5. Registry
All emission reductions are retired against our liability. Carbon Life has developed its own bespoke registry to allow clients, to Bank, Transfer, Sell or retire its Carbon Offsets.
Once you have retired your Emission Reductions in line with the ‘Carbon Life Commitment’ you will receive our unique ‘Carbon Life Accreditation Certificate’.
